This event represents a rare opportunity for members of academic institutions, research centers and industries working on varnishes, resins, glues, coatings, adhesives, joining and all aspects in which the adhesion phenomena are involved. In particular the workshop will address to the adhesion phenomena in relation to the field of: AEROSPACE, AUTOMOTIVE, BIOMEDICAL, BONDING, PACKAGING and many more.

The workshop combine the knowledge offers by the adhesion course with those of two practical cases: the first one (invited lecture) in which the importance of the adhesive joints in aeronautic field will be shown and second one (technical lecture) in which the state of art about the characterization techniques of the adhesion phenomena at different length scales are represented.

• Surface contamination and cleaning;
• Theories or mechanisms of adhesion;
• Contact angle, wettability and adhesion;
• Investigation of interfacial interactions;
• Surface modification techniques and other ways to improve adhesion of organic coatings/adhesives;
• Silane and other adhesion promoters;
• Adhesion aspects of thin films;
• Adhesion measurement of films and coatings.

Dr. K. L. Mittal is a founding editor and former Editor-in-Chief of the international Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology and has been a member of editorial boards for a number of scientific and technical journals. Dr. Mittal has received many awards and honors for his contributions and accomplishments by the worldwide adhesion community. In 1995 the 1^st International Congress on Adhesion Science & Technology in Amsterdam was realized in his honor. In 2002 the global surfactant community initiated  the Kash Mittal Award to honor his contributions to the fields of colloid and interface, chemistry. In 2003 he was honored with the title of doctor honoris causa by the Maria Curie-Sklodowska- University in Lublin.
