Polymeric Materials for Energy generation and harvesting from renewable sources

The project objective has been to develop polymeric materials, processes and device architectures in order to realize electrical power generators exploiting renewable energy source, such as solar or energy from electromagnetic sources (GSM/UMTS signals, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DECT, GPS, BVB-T, Radar) and the waste heat of combustion processes.
In particular, the following polymeric generators have been developed:
•    Dye Sensitized solar cells (DSSC): improved efficiencies, simplification of processes and manufacturing cost reduction, conformable on curved surfaces, able to operate also in condition of insolation diffuse.
•    Thermoelectric cells for the recovery of waste heat: modules based on polymeric nanocomposite materials with improved efficiency and cost reduction 
•    Miniaturized antennas for recovery of Energy from electromagnetic waves: miniaturized array of antennas based on metamaterials, on flexible polymeric substrate
