IMAST participated in the 2015 and 2017 editions of Futuro Remoto, the initiative promoted by Città della Scienza in collaboration with Campania Region for the dissemination of scientific culture.
In 2015 IMAST hosted in its stand some prototypes of industrial applications realized in research projects led with the members.
These included the SNIFFI biosensor for monitoring physiological parameters from human expiration and the thermoplastic composite dashboard for cars, ultralight and recyclable.
In 2017, IMAST set up a Virtual Fabrication Lab in its stand, focusing on direct interaction with visitors.
The audience was able to interact with multimedia artefacts that, thanks to the Arduino technology integrated with the polymeric-based paint that makes it responsive to contact and connected to a digital audiovisual system, enabled researchers and experts from the District to illustrate how the composite materials are realised and in which areas they are applied.
Furthermore, live experiences assisted by video were conducted to show the characteristics and behaviours of some composites and polymers.
